Grauniad corbyn misquote - fake news or happy accident? Archived Message

Not that earth-shattering and maybe a bit petty: I read this quote of Corbyn's statement following a vote in the commons - then happened to be watching channel4 news on +1 and saw the statement, but where the guardian had written 'commend' i'm pretty sure i heard 'amend'. There were already multiple commenters btl responding furiously (as they do) to the commend version by the time i watched the speech. I know it's the grauniad, but that seemed a little too useful to be a simple error - guardian fake news? (so sad!)

"Here’s a little more on the comments made by Jeremy Corbyn immediately after the government’s crucial defeat on the programme motion. He told MPs:

On Saturday, this House emphatically rejected the prime minister’s deal. Tonight, the House has refused to be bounced into debating a hugely significant piece of legislation in just two days with barely any notice and analysis of the economic impact of this bill.

The prime minister is the author of his own misfortune. So I make this offer to him tonight.

Work with us, all of us to agree a reasonable timetable, and I suspect this House will vote to debate, scrutinise and, I hope, commend the detail of this bill. That would be the sensible way forward, and that is the offer I make on behalf of the opposition tonight."
