    I think you're dead right here and always thought this move was a real dud. They never had any chance of removing Trump from office via impeachment thanks to Republican stranglehold on the senate so the only benefit they could possibly reap was negative PR for Trump if they threw everything at him, all day, every day, but they clearly haven't and given their "whistleblower" is a clearly a bit dodgy this may blow up in their faces as you describe.

    I'm conflicted as I would love to see the Goblin Queen Pelosi and her corrupt cohorts crash and burn but the timing of it could just about hand Trump a walkover in 2020. My conspiracy theorist brain wonders if the corporate dems don't care if that happens as they can pay lip service to the progressive wing of the party but when they lose they can blame it on "not being centrist enough".
