Don't feel bad, brooks. I also barely read the beginning and initially praised the body of Johnstone's article, seeing it as a comment on how elite society rejects those who it deems to be "not one of us", because they hold an inconvenient mirror to the status quo. Johnstone has confessed to consulting Wikipedia - and clearly Wikipedia runs all the worst smears on Assange and family. On a re-read - putting oneself in the shoes of a mother fighting for a son (and currently nursing her husband through cancer, apparently) - we see how subtle, nasty and effective these smears are. Since that Stratfor email was leaked in 2010, the US and its willing UK side-kick, were after Assange, by hook or by crook: Stratfor email on Assange's arrest (from 2010): "Pile on. Move him from country to country to face various charges for the next 25 years. But, seize everything he and his family own, to include every person linked to Wiki." "Everything he and his family own" has extended to ownership of their own reputations, goodwill, public support, chance for fair judicial procedure, autobiography and human rights.
