'PM creates new Office for Veterans' Affairs to provide lifelong support to military personnel - GOV.UK 29 Jul 2019 · Boris Johnson will announce that he has appointed Oliver Dowden as Minister representing veterans in Cabinet during a visit to a military base in Scotland today. Oliver Dowden will work closely with Johnny Mercer who has been appointed Minister for Defence People and Veterans.' That was all news to me. According to BBC Countryfile, there are over 2 million ex-armed services personnel, some with psychiatric illnesses like PTSD, anxiety and depression. What a legacy from our wars let alone the death and destruction we caused in those foreign lands which we no right to invade and wage war upon. |
