No won't have that....if one watches Beeb documentaries at all one can have no quarrel with watching PBS doc.s,the one above is good...I'm an English Republican so I have high standards with regard to American posturing (Illuminatus), ...They're also screening the American ground breaker "The War"* and an excellent (if slightly "windy" series), presented by a black historian on the civilisations of Africa..

*That includes many segments of the narrative that are based on Eugene Sledge's book "With the Old Breed", quote: "Among readers of military history, it was almost instantly recognized as a classic. The military historian John Keegan (“The Face of Battle”) called it “one of the most important personal accounts of war that I have ever read.” Sledge’s book helped form the basis for the HBO mini-series “The Pacific,” the successor to “Band of Brothers.”

“With the Old Breed” is, in other words, hardly unknown. But I am regularly surprised at the otherwise literate people of my acquaintance who not only have not read it but have not heard of it.

It’s time to move this book to a higher shelf, to that of nonfiction that is literature. “With the Old Breed” is a deep pleasure. At this mad juncture in American history, it’s an honor to meet this decent, humble, loyal, courageous and truth-obsessed man.

Sledge’s book is a stinging reminder of the sacrifices others have made to allow us to live the life that we do. If you can make it through without welling up at half a dozen spots, you are a stronger person than I."
