Blair gave Serota a knighthood in 1999. Serota now chairs the Arts Council. I am surprised that their large budget has survived the Tories' austerity. 'Today, we have published the budgets for the 2018-22 investment period, alongside the Applicant Guidance for the National Portfolio. We have set a budget of £622m per year across lottery and grant in aid for our three main funding streams: the National Portfolio, Grants for Arts and Culture, and strategic funds. By announcing our proposed budgets now, we want to give the arts and culture sector the chance to consider the full range of funding opportunities available, ahead of the National Portfolio application portal opening on 26 October.' https://www.artscouncil.org.uk/news/announcing-our-budget-our-2018-2022-investment-period
