| When I was campaigning it was understood that the major calorific value of the fuel for most municipal waste incinerators comes from the burning of plastic...even if not plastic is a vital component in the fuel profile of all municipal waste incinerator systems...remove a significant proportion of the current total of plastics in the waste stream and incinerators become even more unprofitable to run...., this unprofitable activity is a "loss leader", the operators of incinerators being subsidiaries of or companies owned by the major shareholders of the oil companies... municipal waste incinerators universally run at a loss..but they are of-course subsidised by the governments of the countries in which they operate.....some very, very cosy relationships are involved.. |
