This BS will make you laugh it is so ridiculous.

This should go down in folklore.

    Dear  xxxx

Thanks for sharing your reaction to BBC News coverage and your concerns about a bias in favour of the Conservative Party.

To allow us to reply promptly, and to ensure we use our licence fee resources as efficiently as possible, we’re sending this response to everyone. We’re sorry we can’t reply individually, but we hope this will address most of the points raised.

Impartiality is a core value of the BBC, and one reason why we believe our news coverage is trusted and respected around the world. In addition, there are specific editorial guidelines in an election period:

Generally speaking, Editors are required to follow the BBC’s Editorial Guidelines and the Ofcom Code to ensure that political parties receive an appropriate level of coverage during an election campaign. This means we are required to assess “past and current electoral support” in making a judgment about the relative weight of coverage for each party. We take our obligation to provide fair and impartial coverage very seriously and take great steps to ensure our reporting is balanced, proportionate and in line with the relevant guidelines. We apply the same rigour to scrutinising the policies and claims of each party, and report a range of support and criticism over time, as the debate unfolds.

BBC News does not seek to take a position in its reporting and aims to give due weight to events, opinion and the main strands of argument over an appropriate timeframe so that no significant strand of thought is under-represented or omitted. The BBC is independent of any political interests, and our news agenda would never be influenced by any outside organisation.

We are careful to check and report the facts surrounding any debate, examine relevant arguments, and offer detailed analysis. We believe that by doing this our audience can make an informed decision.

We’ve noted your comments about our coverage to date, audience reaction is one factor that can inform our decisions.

We hope the above explains the other principles involved, and the efforts we make to maintain our impartiality.

    Kind regards,

    BBC Complaints Team
