Billy Bragg interviewed by Jesse Mulligan RNZ National, Tuesday 17 Dec. 2019, 3:10 p.m.
JESSE MULLIGAN: Billy Bragg, hello! BILLY BRAGG: Hello. JESSE MULLIGAN: Now before we talk about the tour, I'm sorry I have to mention the election, but you were a big supporter of Jeremy Corbyn. BILLY BRAGG: Yes, indeed.
(This might have surprised those listeners who were aware that Bragg jumped on board the ludicrous and brutal psy-ops campaign against Corbyn, repeating the lie about anti-Semitism riddling the Labour Party. Luckily for Bargs, however, he was talking to Jesse Mulligan, who knows f*ck-all about anything, whether it's Russia [1]] or music [2] or death squads [3]. Therefore, Bargs was free to spout whatever nonsense he liked, mentioning darkly some unspecified "baggage" that Corbyn apparently brought with him.)
JESSE MULLIGAN: Do you have a sense of why voters gave Boris Johnson such a big victory? BILLY BRAGG: Yeah. I mean, there were a number of reasons. Corbyn was NOT popular on the doorstep, ahh, y'know, he brought a lot of BAGGAGE with him, as an individual when you've been in politics a long time. And I think also the press that supports the Conservative Party were very loud. But really, overall, I think it probably was Brexit. ... Unfortunately, of all the parties, only Labour was split between Leave and Remain. ...
