Pod: Chris Martenson and Dennis Meadows on TLTG - the current prospects - Archived Message

Grimly realistic, realistically optimistic - overall (but we are talking centuries-wide perspectives here). Note how Dennis no longer sees any realistic prospect for any of the Sustainable Development scenarios offered in the original 'Limits'. Too many tipping-points now past. The realistic push now has to be towards resilience - which fortunately is scalable right down to the most local level. They agree that - quite inevitably and unpreventably - we will be at a much lower population level by the end of the century, and at a much lower level of resource-use; horns well pulled in by then, not by our own will, but by Gaia's peremptory insistence. In other words: the Long Descent, already begun and now unstoppable and irreversible. All we damn-fool twits have to do is to stay alive ourselves, and keep our children alive beyond us, by one means or another - those of us who've got what it takes:
