But most of the food on the British dinner plate will be factory farmed. Archived Message

And we've all seen undercover videos of what goes on in factory farms. And in slaughterhouses. It's about profit and hence speed. Pain is irrelevant. And cows are kept pregnant over and over, - otherwise there wouldn't be any milk for our dairies. And then we deprive them of their calf. The article, unfortunately, doesn't mention veal. I thought that when the cow gives birth to a male it is taken away and put in a small cage where it gets turned into veal by depriving it of iron and salt to the extent where to alleviate its suffering it chews on the bars of the cage. By the way, is it true that the cow cries aloud when the calf is taken away? Humans are the only animal where the human adult drinks milk. Or so I've heard. You haven't mentioned longevity. How long they would live naturally as opposed to when in factory farms - chickens, turkeys etc Animals are just a commodity/product to enhance the quality of human life. It's about power. Nothing else, really. Have you read Peter Singer?
