T'man perhaps not. But JMGreer is relevant, on why enough people swung to Trump and Johnson to give Archived Message

them their wins. Lot of other stuff in this week's post; and the comment conversation - in which John always participates as a respectful responder - is worth some time as well (pretty good class of commenter, after they've passed John's strict courtesy/adulthood moderation). But the part that's sharply relevant to this thread is about why enough pissed off people of the left-deserted working class voted for Trump and Bojit.

The way John describes the situation of the traduced working class, and their entirely predictable response - listening responsively to the crafty populist-aiming pols who take their disgruntlement seriously (or at least appear to) - is sharply pertinent to the sort of bourgeois maunderings from XR that Ian points up here: This ivorytoweroid babble might have been absolutely designed - wilfully - to draw howls of derision from the massed ranks of the abused working class citizens of the Anglozionist empire. As austerity continues to tighten its screws on us, driven as it will continue to be by the burgeoning Synergising Global Crises, we plebs are hardly going to be too receptive to such bourgeois wank-babble, are we? Not even those of us who benefitted from the social-democracy welfare state enough to get the education and the income that qualified us to be bourgeois intelligentsia - if we want to be...

Note that John points out in the comments that just because he sees and explains the common-sense reasons why Trump and Johnson won doesn't mean that he supports them. Just using his wits to assess the realities cold-bloodedly. FWIW, John always describes himself as a Burkean conservative; so not a lot in common with these two rich gits posing as champions of the commons, then.
