Forces out Alasdair Milne and appoints John Birt by 1987. All down hill from then (or a much steeper and faster incline at least).
Birt 'neoliberalises' the BBC. All part of the social engineering of the 80s which instilled in many the mindset of the entrepreneur rather than the reality: the wage earner.
