Archived Message Posted by David Macilwain on January 3, 2020, 11:16 am Never was the failure of government more evident that during the current catastrophic fires here, when the billions being spent on increasing our submarine fleet (by 2035) and fuelling war in Syria , Iraq, Yemen and Ukraine, contrasts with the firefighters who are voluntary! Around the country in air and army and naval bases, thousands of fit young men languish watching battle video games, while ex-servicement kill themselves quietly after killing their share of foreigners for no good reason. So now, as we face another catastrophic day, when some idiot with a match, or some vengeful god with a thunder bolt, could see our home turn black, our government helps Israel and the US start a new war. While it was reported as a serious escalation, and Soleimani was presented as "heroic to his supporters", no Australian politician/foreign minister was interviewed or expressed an opinion. We should demand that the US act of terrorism is condemned and action immediately taken to prevent any further such violence. The Yanks and Israelis had this planned for months, and probably for 01.02.2020.... What a way to start a decade! One despairs.
