The US and henchmen did not, have not destroyed IS&co, they have supported and continue to support them; the murder of Soleimani, whose hand was good in this job, was the latest moment of this policy. There has been no Iranian hostility; on the contrary: patience and fortitude in the face of provocation, to a fault (esp. in the face of: mass terrorist murders at home). Iran is not a poor country and has invested in military technology with the assistance of its allies to good effect. The little discussion on US energy sufficiency avoids the little detail that US domestic energy production (fracking) costs more than it makes - ie it's another petard of the the exponentially growing deficit which will inevitably go bang. On defence spending: Avoids the fact that despite (or perhaps owing to) spending increases, the kit the US makes is crap and no-one wants to buy unless they have no choice (eg Israel, the Gulfies) or are stupid, like the W. Euros/Brits. |
