scientific method of actually looking at palpable realities, and deciding what to think from those observations, I would say that these are not now the Winter's of my childhood: direct personal memory of then; direct personal observation now: For some reason, something's changing.

I take some interest in the 'no serious climate emergency' school of thought, because some of them - just some, by no means all - have some interesting and sober arguments - frequently from scientific observation - which seem to stand up.

Hardly surprising, since the situation is indeed highly complex, not fully predictable (despite Patrick seeming to assert otherwise: but inherently unpredictable, because we live in a probablistic rather than a deterministic reality), so it's hardly surprising if the science is not cut-and-dried certain beyond doubt. Of course it's not. We really can't say with religious certainty how this crisis is going to pan out; so no point in taking obdurate positions, and refusing to listen to anyone who speaks against them - even when they seem to be speaking hard good sense, backed by plenty of scientific data currently in good standing.

Best to leave the matter open and listen to anyone who has a view, especially if they seem to know what they're talking about, with checkable, replicable facts backing their line of argument. OPEN-MINDED scepticism rools, OK!
