On Chomsky, you remind me of the dishonest Guardian hack Emma Brockes who misreported the content of her interview with him - including flagrant misquotes - in a transparent attempt to discredit someone whose politics she, and more importantly her bosses, don't like. Unlike you though, I believe the Guardian editors had the minimal integrity to at least partially correct the record when confronted. When you, on the other hand, were asked for a source for your claim that Chomsky "has said he is disgusted by 'emotional' language in testifying to pain and injustice, such as that of Martin Luther King Jr." you risibly threw the burden of proof on the person asking for a source, thus revealing that you didn't have one. These comments are about on the same level of dishonesty. Chomsky has spent a career exposing the lies and propaganda of the New York Times and gives reasons why he finds it still worth reading, despite it being a major source of establishment propaganda. He has said the business press is worth reading because elites are talking to each other and tend to be more honest. Here's a quote: Those who Adam Smith called ‘the masters of the universe’ have to understand the universe. They have to have a tolerably realistic understanding of the world that they are managing and controlling. That’s true of political elites as well, but the business world particularly. Also, the business press essentially trust their audience. They don’t have to impose propagandistic illusions to keep the rabble under control. He has said a million times that the US is a sham democracy, about on the level of Iran where people only get to vote for candidates vetted by the powerful. He has also spoken extensively about the Princeton study that proves the US is not a democracy at all, but an oligarchy. You're conflating his comments about the US being the "freest society in the world" in terms of the freedom from the constraint of violent coercion on political speech and activity with saying it's the most democratic. If he did say it it should be easy to provide a citation, so let's see one.
