He's a smart guy, dissents from the worst abuses of the security state and has a lot of good information from the inside he's willing to share, and seems to be a decent enough analyst on certain matters, which is why even politically radical sites like the Grayzone are willing to host him, but it's all circumscribed within certain limits and false assumptions that reinforce official orthodoxy about the US role in the world. On DN yesterday, when asked about whether the impeachment proceedings may have been a factor in the assassination of Soleimani, he said, pompously

But apparently one is not a traitor to the truth by promulgating such epic bullshit as that the US has
...become the law of the jungle, rather than, as we have been since 1945, the greatest supporter of international law and the rule of law in general across the face of the globe.
That quote was from earlier in the same interview. Shyaku had an insightful post about him a while back, mentioning that he's never really apologized for his role in the 2003 invasion of Iraq and that for this and other reasons he was pretty suspect.
