There were agrarian, financial and imperial revolutions in Britain and Europe before the industrial one. Like the Romans "pacifying" the Mediterranean, the English-then-British "pacified" the world's oceans, a gigantic reduction in the risk of overseas trade in people, commodities and manufactures.
