'Then, to wrap up proceedings, Baraitser dropped a massive bombshell. She stated that although Article 4.1 of the US/UK Extradition Treaty forbade political extraditions, this was only in the Treaty. That exemption does not appear in the UK Extradition Act. On the face of it therefore political extradition is not illegal in the UK, as the Treaty has no legal force on the Court. She invited the defence to address this argument in the morning.' There you have it: there is no 'rule of law', only pieces of paper which the powerful can ignore whenever they feel like it. Everything about this 'trial' is a wicked, despicable act of state terrorism. Good on Murray for reporting what the cut'n'paste stenographers in the media will never deem worthy of our attention, for obvious reasons... A pox on all their houses! I |
