Julian Assange didn't happen. He never happened. Nothing happened.Archived Message

I have just spent 10 minutes combing through the BBC news website, looking under UK, Politics, News, World, and several other categories, for the latest news on the Assange show trial. I couldn't find anything. Perhaps I missed it.
But it brought to mind Harold Pinter's comment about an atrocity: that it Never Happened even while it was Happening. Nothing Happened. So according to the BBC Julian Assange never happened. He didn't happen. Nothing Happened.
I'll bet the BBC news editors are down on their knees wringing their hands in gratitude that the Coronavirus story has swamped everything else (though not quite -- Wills and Kate, they tell us, had a pint to round off their royal visit) because it's a perfect excuse in case anyone accuses them of ignoring the story. "Assange? Yes, we had it all set up and ready to run, squire, but then this damn virus took over and squeezed him out. You have to admit, it's the bigger story. Sorry and all that. Maybe in a month or so we'll find space -- when he gets extradited to the US will be a good opportunity."
