    Looks like a solid headline that has everything, right? Arabic name, FBI, striking at symbolic American targets.

    If you've read "The Terror Factory" by Trevor Aronson (and you really should) you will already sense what's coming, but you will definitely see the tell-tale signs of a classic "Terror Factory" plot as you go through the paragraphs.

    A Georgia man accused of plotting to attack the White House with an anti-tank rocket and explosives has pleaded guilty to a federal charge.

    Hasher Jallal Taheb, 23, pleaded guilty on Wednesday to a charge of attempting to destroy, by fire or an explosive, a building owned by or leased to the United States, federal prosecutors said.

    Taheb hatched a dangerous plan that would have resulted in unimaginable injury,” US attorney Byung J “BJay” Pak said in an emailed statement. “We are grateful to community members who noticed his dangerous evolution and alerted law enforcement.”

    Really? How was he going to get an anti-tank missile (which is a very directed explosive and quite unsuited to taking out a building). Furthermore, how was he going to get close enough to the White House to use explosives to cause "unimaginable injury"? Hmm, I'm sure the details will be revealed.

    Local law enforcement contacted the FBI in March 2018 after getting a tip from a community member saying Taheb had adopted radical ideas.

    In conversations with undercover federal investigators in October 2018, Taheb mentioned plans to travel overseas and wanting to attack the White House and the Statue of Liberty, prosecutors said. During meetings in December 2018, he broadened his potential targets in the Washington DC area to also include the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial and a synagogue.

    So in March 2018 (i.e. two YEARS ago) they hear of someone who might have been radicalised online and set a bunch of undercovers to get close to himo. "Conversations with undercover federal investigators", "...mentioned plans to attack the White House and the Statue of Liberty". Also note the nice drop-in of "and a synagogue" at the end just for good measure. I wonder if the FULL, UNEDITED transcripts of these conversations will be released? I'm sure they will because the FBI surely have nothing to hide...

    He then produced sketches he had made of the White House, described a detailed plan to attack it and described weapons and explosives he wanted to use, including semi-automatic weapons, improvised explosive devices, an anti-tank weapon and hand grenades.

    Sp in other words he described his fantasy jihadi weekend, "I want to attack the White House with errr semi-automatic weapons, yeh those and er explosives and hand grenades, yeh those too. Maybe an anti-tank weapon? Yeh, I'd use one of them too".

    Federal agents arrested Taheb on 16 January 2019 when he showed up for a meeting with an undercover agent and an FBI source thinking they were going to rent a car and trade their vehicles for weapons, with the intention of driving to Washington DC to carry out the attack, prosecutors have said.

    Ahhh, so it took him ten months of contact with undercover FBI agents to come up with his plan and the only access to weapons he ever had was....from the Feds. Where have I seen this before? The Newburgh Sting. The Liberty City Sting for starters.

    The careful phrasing, the massive lacunae in the narrative and the complete lack of actual imminent threat other than that implied by undercover agents playing the part of terrorists all add up to another manufactured terror plot. Sure, this guy sounds like he has been radicalised and if he could get hold of some heavy weapons, might have done something. They should have investigated and done something about him. How serious a terrorist is he meant to be if he can't get hold of some weapons in GEORGIA for ####s sake?

    It's much more likely that this is another dupe, possibly mentally challenged, who's ranting online about jihad thinking he's edgy who gets contacted by the feds and they helpfully suggest targets, weapons, plans and how to prepare which he then proceeds to do while they record it. They then report the story as just him doing what they told him WITHOUT all the bits where they are telling him what to do.

    Another giveaway is how they treated the story. An attack on the White House? That would be quite a big story you would think. But no. It's buried way below the fold and just gets a few paragraphs. No coverage of the trial, just "Guilty. He'll be sentenced soon". Another foolish dupe about to disappear for ever into the U.S. Gulag. Nothing to see here, move along.
