More baffled now after I lost several hours of my life looking at the websites of NHS England and NHS Procurement in an attempt to understand why it seems to be impossibly difficult to get what look like simple items of protective gear to doctors and nurses. Does anyone know: a) what companies have contracts with the NHS for the supply of protective gear? b) whether these are PFI-type contracts where the purchaser cannot legally get rid of the supplier even for non-performance? c) what materials are used in the production of protective clothing, where are they sourced from and whether there is a shortage of raw materials? d) whether the UK is being outbid by other countries? e) what is the supply chain? How much of this gear is imported and how much produced by British manufacturers? f) how much of this is a supply problem and how much one of distribution? Please feel free to ask and answer any other questions that occur to you.
