I doubt that the long term was ignored by the Russians before they took the plunge, It's also the case that economic growth is astronomical after a war because everyone heeds to build a house, get water and remove effluent. All big infrastructure and all labour-intensive. If the Russians have any sense they will be generous, like the Chinese; not rapacious like American Caesar; there's no point in allowing Syria to fail now. Is Fisk still writing for the inderelictependent? |
