Reading this earlier, it's not terrible I thought Coronavirus: Can you compare the UK with Italy? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/52530918 On the bare data the UK is not yet worse than Italy (eg deaths per 1m popn UK 443 vs Italy 491); but is rapidly getting there as Italy's cases are falling faster, and already 'there' in reality due to Italy having had less time to prepare, as the article points out, and their outcome highlighting the seriousness of the situation for Boris and co, or rather should have.
