There was quite a panic about Swine Flu, back in the day, accompanied by TV footage of worried-looking people boarding planes, similar to SARS news. South Africans were encouraged to get Tamiflu on prescription 'just in case' and keep it in the medical cabinet. Luckily, no-one needed to use it in our household and I later binned it.One of the German businessmen who made a fortune out of Tamiflu is rumoured to be retired in desired obscurity on a southern hemisphere seaboard.
Swine Flu is apparently still around. An acquaintance's husband flew back to SA from Australia this January 2020 and fell very ill within days of landing: the diagnosis was "Swine Flu".
