Interim conclusion: picture still too complicated and rife with unknowns to offer much in the way of firm certainties. Still. Christian asserts that it will take "five to ten years" to get a rounded picture of the whole episode, and how to regard the virus, though he thinks a possibly-useful vaccine will be available well before that. He also advises the 'try anything and see what works' strategy.
