Last year I was chatting with members of the local peace group (all ladies of a certain age) who are Labour voters and strong Corbyn supporters. I happened to mention a broadcast I'd watched on Sputnik with George, and I was surprised, and disappointed, at their reaction. To a woman they expressed their intense dislike of him, and when I asked why, one of them said the way he had treated an Asian candidate standing against him in (I think it was) a Bradford election, was disgraceful. I didn't have the knowledge to argue, though their feeling against him shocked me. If enough Labour supporters feel the same -- dispirited and disillusioned as they are -- he hasn't much of a chance. |
