" because this is occurring in one third of patients who are seriously ill - I would say very seriously - and may well be part of the reason such patients are dying. That has little relation to the reason these patients become seriously ill from the virus in the first place, which is likely due to their other health problems and age. I see Chris Whitty's useful description - in the OFFG - of the statistical analysis of cases, which fits almost the same as was said three months ago from Wuhan. The BBC continues to push the line - people are dying from rare complications and weird side effects of the virus, but some are dying even without having caught it.
