No she didn't reply on that occasion, although to give her credit she often has read out emails I've sent her. I've struggled through a tiny bit of Archer's bilge; I was particularly appalled by his blatant ripoff of Somerset Maugham's "The Luncheon", which he retold almost paragraph for paragraph, minus the elegance and wit. Archer was involved in a monumental stoush with Kim Hill on RNZ National in 1995, by the way; he was reduced to shouting repeatedly, "I was WARNED about you!" It was her most outstanding interview until a decade later, when she provoked the far more detestable, and sinister William Shawcross into a paroxysm of fury.
