There are technical reasons why a DNA or RNA vaccine could be effective. Which I won't go into. It revolves around MHC presentation if anyone is interested. The problem is they can give a weak immune response because the DNA doesn't enter your cells very efficiently, so until now they have been used alongside other strategies. And as far as I am aware there are no commercial vaccines, yet, based on DNA. Or vanshingly few. Many vaccines are multiple-shot vaccines ("primer"/"boost"). One shot, the priming shot for example could be DNA but because of the weakness of the response, the boost may be something else. - Regards, Shyaku
