Especially in the period since he moved back to Russia. He expresses just no hope at all. He, and Vineyard Saker would have more credibility if they said, you know "the US is on the verge of systemic collapse but the US has tremendous human capital in the resourcefulness and hard work of its people, and at some point they will hit rock bottom and may finally start to rebuild - as Russia did around yr. 2000". But he, and Saker, never seem to say that. While they are justified in much of their critique of the US, for sure, there is nonetheless just a steady, unremittingly negative drumbeat. No hope at all, no suggestions, no guidance from Russia's experience. Just negativity tinged with a kind of a mild schadenfraude. Its certainly fair game after the way the US has behaved, but it is a game - building poltical captial over a number of years or decades, then moving back to Russia and kind of "talking down the markets" from a distance. (In my view). Hey, may the best man win!
