| Perhaps, but a rational person wouldn't let the opinions the people who run the elections and who represent power and privilege have any impact on their own decisions. What I find misguided is Cook's (and he's far from alone) elevation of voting in a thoroughly corrupted system to an importance it doesn't merit. It's like arguing that one's individual consumer choices - often reduced to similar levels of meaninglessness by the same processes - are critically important, when, in the absence of collective political action, they can have little systemic impact. |
