    Helmer seems to think they were kept at RAF Fairford and then maybe flown to the U.S. and then......who knows? Some kind of witness protection in Montana or Nebraska? Some secret Gulag type deal? Dead and buried somewhere maybe.

    The complete lack of curiosity from the media is not really astonishing given their track record but it is incredibly damning. Nothing but a personal appearance would be convincing either given the state of "deep fake" voice/audio manipulation they have now but they haven't even tried that.

    Helmer has some theory that Skripal poisoned himself (and Yulia) while engaged in some kind of deal; for what and with whom remained vague. Moscow knew about it and sent the two guys that the west blame for the attack over to the UK to "show they knew what was going on". This seems pretty dubious to me while at the same time I don't think the two cathedral spire fans were assassins.

    Helmer doesn't really go into the idea that Sergei wanted to return to Russia which is popular in some circles. Unfotunately, absent some dramatic whistleblower appearing, I don't think the real events will ever come to light. Perhaps they hope that everyone will forget about the Skirpals. It's noticeable that when the hacks refer to it now it's always "The Salisbury Poisoning" rather than "The Skripal Poisoning".
