Otherwise, after seeing the effects, in theory, the social/ecological programme should have been extended over the whole coastal area, or at least in pocket-size (oasis) areas. Instead of taking that route, the Saudis are building a desalination plants - the one referred to was built and operated by European contractors (I've seen it). At least it was good for kick-starting this greening project, it seems. Also note that it was Yemenis that taught the local Bedouins how to build the stone walls.
