He stressed that Cortez allied with tribes subjugated by Aztecs. That was the main reason for his success. With large dollops of deceit and luck, rather than GGaS (except smallpox). Rather than just a handful of brave Spanish soldiers as claimed by Cortez (primary source would say that : )).
