Best estimates even by optimistic scientists for proper and safe development of a new vaccine is a few years. If you find one on the shelf earlier (and the mers one was shelved because it ran its course before they could develop one), you can probably take a guess that you're the Guinea pig. That's a long way off the idea that people not interested in a fast released vaccine are 'nutters', closer to the idea that if you know (or research anything) about vaccine development you'll find that (scientists at least) take the development and safety seriously. And that takes lots of time. Anything out by end of this year or even early to mid way next year will most definitely have been rushed. Average development time is 5-10 years. Anything close to 1 practically unheard of so far as I can find.
