Typical standard of fraudian "reporting" on this:

    https://www.dumptheguardian.com/world/2020/aug/16/israel-continues-airstrikes-on-gaza-in-retaliation-for-hamas-balloon-bombs

Israel continues airstrikes on Gaza in retaliation for Hamas balloon bombs

Israeli forces say they bombed Hamas targets for a fifth consecutive night as clashes broke out along border

Even on the standfirst they get in the propaganda, biased to Israel terms; framing the attack as "in retaliation", calling the low-grade annoyances that the Gazans send over the border Balloon "Bombs", talking of the ever-present (in these reports and minds of the Isreal embassy at least) "Clashes".

Israeli aircraft have bombed sites belonging to the militant Hamas group in Gaza for a fifth night in a row, the Israel defence force says.

The military said early on Sunday that the airstrikes were in response to arson balloons that Hamas-affiliated groups sent across the Gaza frontier into Israeli territory.

Clashes also broke out in the evening along the Gaza-Israeli border, the army said. A statement released by the Israel military said dozens of Palestinians burned tyres and hurled explosive devices and grenades towards the security fence while attempting to approach it.

This is like an attempt to cram the most hasbara lies into a few paragraphs.

"For a fifth night in a row" - but this is the first we've reported on it. Hmmm, wonder why?

"Sites belonging to the militant Hamas group" - aka houses and homes, schools, businesses.

"The military said", "in response to" - the usual framing from the usual sources.

"Arson balloons" - oooh arson ballons, I though they were balloon bombs.

"Hamas affiliated groups" - as if they hadn't said hamas enough already.

"Clashes broke out", "burned tyres and hurled explosive devices and grenades towards the security fence while attempting to approach it" - that sounds like they are not anywhere near it and haven't actually put anyone in danger. They were throwing stuff at a heavily armed wall. That's not a clash, unless of course you murdered them like you usually do.

Astonishingly they then basically repeat all of the Israeli talking points again:

Over the past week Israeli forces have carried out repeated night-time strikes on targets linked to the Islamist group Hamas, which controls Gaza.

The army says they are in response to the use of makeshift firebombs, attached to balloons and kites, that have been sent into parts of southern Israel, causing thousands of fires in Israeli farms and communities.

There were 19 such Palestinian attacks on Saturday, according to Israeli rescue services.

This time it's "The Islamist group Hamas" who "controls Gaza", and "firebombs".

Also, thousands of fires but there were only 19 attacks on Saturday? So they sent over hundreds every day before that? Hmmm, that doesn't seem to add up.

Israel has also closed its Kerem Shalom goods crossing with Gaza and reduced the territory’s permitted Mediterranean coastal fishing zone, in response to the recent balloon launches.

    Then almost at the bottom:

Khalil al-Hayya, a senior Hamas official, accused Israel on Saturday of not honouring an informal truce to ease the blockade it has imposed on Gaza since Hamas took it over in 2007.

It isn't an accustation; you've just reported that they are doing the exact opposite. There is no other reason for this innacurate biased framing other than to favour Israel.

It's ironic that they have a link to the freedland piece about the UAE "peace" deadl I psoted about a couple of days ago and yet there is no reference to that as if there is no link between the events.

    There's more:

Despite a 2019 truce backed by the UN, Egypt and Qatar, the two sides clash sporadically with rockets, mortar fire and incendiary balloons.

Gaza has a population of two million, more than half of whom live in poverty, according to the World Bank.

Hamas “is responsible for all events transpiring in the Gaza Strip and emanating from it, and will bear the consequences for terror activity against Israeli civilians”, the IDF said.

"The two sides clash" - according to Israel.

"rockets, mortar fire and incendiary balloons" - interestingly they've missed out drones, missiles, air raids and sniper fire all of which are used by Israel. It's almost as if they've only listed the Palestinian weapons....

"Hamas “is responsible for all events transpiring in the Gaza Strip and emanating from it" - and to finish a nice bit of hand-washing from the Israelis. Nothing to do with us guv, we just lock 'em up and bomb 'em.

This has the strap line "agencies" and not any single person at the fraud. Disgraceful in any event.
