    and afraid his empathy with the Arab and Muslim world is not quite there. Assad cannot be compared with Lukashenko either before or after Russia's intervention, at least not this way; Assad never used "violence" against peaceful demonstrators, as those were infiltrated on the first day in the same way as in Belarus. In fact Assad soon saw what happened and even told the police to disarm, which resulted in them dying. He also tried to avoid stirring up any sectarian sentiment that would feed the beast, and only allowed the army to intervene when people pleaded for help.
    And of course the opposition never had a leader like Tikhanovskaya at the start or later, other than Zahran Alloush and Abu Bakr al Baghdadi!
    Apart from all that, the Russians were only involved in Syria at the UN until September 2015, when the terrorist second wave was approaching Damascus.
