    Following the Grenfell fire/tragedy, any building with cladding has to have an EWS certificate. The certificates issued by surveyors belonging to the RICS, are very expensive. Banks are refusing to mortgage flats.

    Sales of apartments across the country have ground to a halt across the country as government fire safety guidance has seen banks refuse mortgages on buildings of all heights, Inside Housing can reveal.

    Some flat owners are having to employ fire wardens who sit keeping a look out for fire breaking out.
