Thanks for that. I think if you look at the wording of my question there wasn't anything insolent at all, as opposed say, to calling someone a vocal kool-aid drinker. I was genuinely interested in your perspective as i think it's relevant to your position that policies around masks, social distancing, quarantine, etc are part of a conspiracy "by the Pharma industry and security industry and their partners in the health care industry." But since these industries are western-based, we wouldn't expect countries outside of the Axis of Obedience like Russia and Cuba and Venezuela to adopt them unless there were scientific, non-conspiratorial reasons to do. Why would they want to support an international hoax to benefit the US security industry? Orlov came up with a laughable explanation to try and square this circle, and I was wondering if you shared it, or had another explanation. I've asked the same question of others who shared your view about covid-19. Nothing to do with how you personally feel about Putin. Your explanation strikes me as slightly less implausible than Orlov's, but not very convincing. You say that Russia's "submission to an undesirable and or pointless public direction is as suggested - that trying to buck the trend - and WHO advice - would have caused unnecessary tensions and difficulties." What kind of "tensions and difficulties"? If its policies - which represented a more serious response than many western governments - were not based on their own scientific assessment of the health risks posed by the virus, and they secretly knew the risk to be a ginned-up hoax by the western corporate-security state, why wouldn't they have saved themselves the economic costs of shutting the border with China and keeping people home from work? Particularly when the country that they have most to fear "unnecessary tensions and difficulties" with - the US - was not treating the virus seriously at all, and its head of state shared your views about it? Sorry, but to me that doesn't wash. Applying Occam's razor, we see that there is a much simpler and less contradictory explanation than yours or Orlov's. And btw, this has nothing to do with whether some western governments - like yours, apparently - are not using the crisis to implement unjustifiably extreme, restrictive and authoritarian policies for reasons of their own. That has to do with power exploiting a crisis - nothing remarkable in that - not with the seriousness of the disease. As to the inconsistencies in Russia's approach, I think there are very few governments around the world that have been perfectly consistent. They're all dealing with something new and poorly understood, and trying to balance the economic welfare of their own countries with public health in a world on the brink of multiple international crises, including economic, environmental, diplomatic, etc. Perfect consistency in such a situation would be more surprising to me than its opposite.
