I had a hospital appt this afternoon for an ultrasound. The hospital was teeming. I was a bit early and sat down in the entrance area doing some people watching. Hundreds and hundreds moving in and out. Makes you aware of the constant physical demands on the NHS.

The radiographer told me that when the Covid outbreak happened, the staff were only issued with face masks although some of the patients with appointments during those months were infectious and/or on oxygen. Eventually, the staff were provided with the proper PPE.

Had a cup of tea from the Costa outlet in the entrance. £1.93 for a paper cupful of tea! The Costa is next to an M&S food shop. Before the shop and cafe there existed the Friends of the Hospital base, the in house printing dept and a Patient Liasion office for advice, department directions, etc. All gone.
