A lot of the output seems to be creating a narrative.. Archived Message

Mostly a narrative that is reactive to TLN, but also narratives that were challenged here. The next narrative will possibly be that TLN is dying, trashed, etc., the only missing part right now being the boatloads of refugees, which I suspect if one or two people there could will into existence by visualization, they probably would :-) I think 'passive aggressive' is a pretty reasonable description for some of this. Presumably (or rather obviously) arising from hurt feelings. There is a distinction to be made between objecting to something and challenging it. Criticising the source falls somewhere between the two - to be resorted to if the source is trying to (mis)define the reader. I think its good that there is a space created where selected views can go more-or-less unchallenged, if this makes people happy. They can dip a toe in the dangerous waters of TLN from time to time, I am sure, but also have a 'safe space' to retreat to. Probably there is a genuine belief that COVID is a complete hoax, because the way it is treated in the media is *so* reminiscent of other obvious hoaxes, and exasperation that this obvious fact is invisible to many here. That is a narrative, and for those who make calls on a case-by-case basis, based on a lot of other stuff that does not intersect with the popular press, including by the way, lived experience, which is different for everyone, its reasonable *and enriching* to the board to make the challenges. If you are going to persist in telling people they are deranged, or shockingly snapping heels to the establishment because they resist believing simplistic and in many cases misleading statements, there will be some push back. - Shyaku
