Haha, Nick Aldworth, former counter-terrorism national co-ordinator, schools this Sky reporter who's clearly expecting him to side with the hardline govt response, but actually ends up schooling him on the unnecessary burden an organised crime re-classification would add to the cop's workload. He also puts the hysteria in perspective with numerous examples of criminal actions in political causes throughout recent UK history and notes the public backlash against the tactic of kettling which his research showed was seen as unfair and OTT during the student tuition fee protests:

Sky seem to have been pushing an especially hard line on this, with XR reps continually being told that their illegal action has put them beyond the pale and alienated people in power who are sympathetic to their cause (while doing f* all about it, but let's not mention that)

Interesting to see how it's got all their backs up and they're shoring up their position with the same BS about Attenborough in The Sun or XR themselves being interviewed etc. Clearly trying to manage the public reaction and drum in the sense of outrage and get all the right talking points about how 'counterproductive' the action was or how they've 'shot themselves in the foot' or are presenting an active threat to our cherished media and democratic institutions. Establishment pearl-clutchers the lot of 'em!
