RT evidently take the very sensible and pragmatic view that in order to do anything in politics, first of all you have to engage with people. So yes you have conservative commentators like Peter Lavelle who are generally pretty sympathetic to Trump and the Alt-Right. But on the other hand you also have Larry King whose views and guests are invariably pretty mainstream centrist Democrat. Then you have a programme like Watching the Hawks which caters to the Millenial Sanders-ite left-Democrat type of audience. But the overall pitch is always that people’s views ought to be given the chance to be aired and that people should talk to one another. What a contrast with something like the truly awful BBC, where anything that strays one hairs-width from the liberal-fascist consensus is interrupted, shouted down, and ridiculed - if it even makes it on the air at all. RT’s much more open, pragmatic, and consensual view is actually the longstanding view amongst Communists, and reflects the Marxist-Leninist heritage that’s there in today’s Russia. The end result is that, objectively speaking, RT is an anti-imperialist news outlet, and a very good one.
