If it persists, there is a risk that, for some, subsequent recurrent infection may be worse. However, the hope would be that once you've had it the further infections will be less severe. Those who are vulnerable will die and the remainder will have weathered the storm and SARS-COV2 will become just a cold. That is the choice that has been taken. The idea that the vulnerable can or will be protected is a lie. There was an alternative. The failure to institute an adequate public health program, to fund sufficient hospital beds, to buy sufficient ICU ventilators,to allow European nurses to stay to maintain staffing, are political choices.
