I've harangued the board before about this same subject -- people (celebrities) we assume or presume to be left-of-centre and therefore sympathetic to human rights causes and in the know about the whole corporate media scam and yet turn out to be woefully ignorant. My two prime examples are William Boyd and John le Carre who signed the letter calling for Corbyn and Labour to do something about antisemitism in the party. You'd have thought, wouldn't you, that two such intelligent and widely-read people would be fully aware of the campaign waged by Israel and "journalists" such as John Ware who invented smear stories to taint Corbyn -- yet like Benjamin and her ignorance about Obama's kill lists (I assume!) they seem to inhabit an alternative world where these things pass them by.
It's stranger still in le Carre's case because he has in the past been notably left-wing in his political stance and highly critical of the establishment (having been on the inside) and it seems very odd to me that he should be taken in by the blatant propaganda. Perhaps I'm naive and le Carre is actually a government stooge pretending to be vaguely sympathetic to the left. But I'm still puzzled.
