Thanks for the reminder. I remember signing a petition against it. Labour has never been much good on civil liberties. They tried to introduce ID cards under Blair. It seems that both the European Court of Justice and the European Court of Human Right ruled against the Law. Not that that had any effect, of course! It seems that Gove is close to doing a deal that would keep us tied to the rulings of the European Court of Human Rights, in theory at least: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8817429/Proposed-Brexit-deal-UK-tied-European-Court-Human-Rights-rulings.html It has got the Tory Right spitting feathers. Any rulings against the Spycops Law would be ignored, of course. But, at least there might be a ruling. Post-Brexit, the assault on civil liberties proceeds apace, with bugger all opposition. So much for taking back control.
