I had a similar "drive-by" experience with the hideous beeb (actually a walk-by). There was some piece on that fantastic picture of the Siberian Tiger "hugging" a tree that just won the Wildlife Photograph of the Year (not sure of the exact prize name). So they briefly show the picture and then the autocue reader says something like "The announcement was made by the Kate Middleton Duchess of" whatever the #### her title is and then they have the next thirty seconds of her announcing a prize we already know the result of and dropping anodyne "isn't nature wonderful?" lines that someone wrote for her. There is no purpose to having her in there other than to cram the royals in and for some forelock tugging. They would have been better served by spending that 30 seconds talking about why there are only a hundred or so Siberian Tigers left in the wild or having more insight into how the photographer got the picture instead of that "I want to be a princess" social climbing cypher spewing platitudes.
