Any pandemic management strategy relying upon immunity from natural infections for COVID-19 is flawed. Oh right. They know this for certain do they? Why did the numbers of deaths and infections from Sweden (and Belarus) not go through the roof back in May but came down to zero and why are the numbers there now so low? Any open-minded scientist should be honestly trying to answer this. Japan, Vietnam, and New Zealand, to name a few countries, have shown that robust public health responses can control transmission, allowing life to return to near-normal, If near-normal now means you have to muzzle yourself and be granted permission by police and government officials before you can be close to other people or travel, I don't want that society. Secondly, these countries will be continually on the lookout for any sign of the virus and lockdown at the drop of a hat. And, as so often with these "we must do.." articles, there is no cost-benefit analysis. Just a brief statement "Although lockdowns have been disruptive" as if the consequence is some minor inconvenience like washing your hands. Why not call the illness from Covid "disruptive". UN estimates speak of hundreds of thousands of childrens deaths, millions unemployed, massive increase in mental health and suicides etc.
